Submit Your Work Elsewhere

Gulf Stream, Florida International University’s literary magazine, is accepting submissions of poetry, prose and creative non-fiction until November 15. The perfect place to send those polished pieces you’ve been working on over the last few months. We look forward to reading your work!
Here are the submission guidelines

If, like me,  you’ve been getting full-body shivers from watching the displays of pure athletic prowess and titanium mental strength at the London 2012 Olympics, then I think it’s time you put pen to paper and wrote a few lines for The Barnstormer’s O Sport! segment. They’ve created an outlet for all you poetic sports fans–your very own online ‘poetic nod to the Olympics!’

Don’t regret, submit now!!!

I’d like to let you know about a very special project.

Open Field is an iPad magazine put out by Australian publishing group, The Royals. It features the writing and visual work of 28 women from around the world.

In their own words, “All content comes from women. All money raised from the sale of Open Field goes to programs that assist women, via the charity CARE.”

I met Kirsten Alexander, the editor of Open Field, when we were both in Banff last October for the Wired Writing Studio. For the last seven months, Kirsten has worked for free, gathering and editing work for the issue. I’m very proud to have been included in Open Field’s inaugural issue alongside some extremely talented writers, especially my Banff Center mentor, Sue Goyette, and my dear friend, and Argentinian superstar, Guadalupe Muro!

I don’t have an iPad, but I tried to download Open Field to my iTunes as an app. I don’t think it worked. So, unfortunately, I think it’s only for you fancy iPad folk! I’ll have to ask my Babcia to let me read it next time I’m over.

Download Open Field here. The karma circle won’t forget!

Morning!

There is a fast-approaching deadline for an open-submission call that I encourage you to take a shot at. Harry’s the managing editor at Hart House Review, U of T’s lit rag, and they’re looking for poetry and fiction.

George Eliot Clarke, Rohinton Mistry and A.F. Moritz have all been published in HHR; nice footsteps to follow in.

Everyone should take a look at their submission guidelines and send them something by January 15th!
